Holocaust Education Trust Ireland
Challenge
To maximise media coverage of National Holocaust Memorial Day 2020. For the second year, We the People was tasked with coordinating media and interviews at the event as well as securing coverage that promoted the occasion and demonstrated the need to reduce anti-Semitism in Ireland. The event featured Irish Holocaust survivors and their families and words by President Michael D. Higgins.

Approach
2020 marked the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. We secured extensive coverage by telling the stories of Holocaust survivors and their families and facilitiating interviews for them to share their experiences and insights. We aimed to integrate lesser known stories into the narrative by shining a spotlight on Kinga Paszko, whose family was recognised as Righteous Among The Nations in 1993 after they sheltered a Jewish family during the Second World War at great personal risk.
Results
Through extensive media relations we achieved 38 pieces of coverage. This included the placement of Holocaust survivors Tomi Reichental and Suzi Diamond on the Late Late Show where they discussed their harrowing childhood concentration camp experiences.
